Event System

Connect campaigns to disaster events for coordinated relief efforts

The Event System helps organize disaster response by grouping related campaigns under specific disasters or emergencies. When multiple organizations respond to the same typhoon, earthquake, or flood, linking campaigns to an event helps donors find all relief efforts in one place and prevents duplication.

What is an Event?

An event represents a specific disaster or emergency situation:

Natural Disasters

Typhoons, earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, landslides

Emergencies

Fires, industrial accidents, pandemics, conflicts

Ongoing Crises

Long-term situations requiring sustained relief efforts

Related Responses

  2. Contact Dasig support to request a new event be created
  3. Provide: Event name, date, type, affected areas, brief description
  4. Admins will review and create the event
  5. You'll be notified when you can link your campaign

Event vs Campaign: What's the Difference?

📅 Event

  • • The disaster itself
  • • One event (e.g., Typhoon Odette)
  • • Created by admins
  • • Contains basic disaster info
  • • Groups related campaigns

🏕️ Campaign

  • • Your relief effort
  • • Many campaigns per event
  • • Created by organizers (you)
  • • Has goals, needs, donations
  • • Links to one event

Event Linking Best Practices

Do This

  • ✓ Link to the actual disaster you're responding to
  • ✓ Check existing events before requesting new ones
  • ✓ Be specific in your campaign description
  • ✓ Update campaign as response evolves
  • ✓ Coordinate with other campaigns on the same event

×Avoid This

  • × Linking to unrelated events for visibility
  • × Creating duplicate event requests
  • × Vague campaign descriptions
  • × Forgetting to unlink when response ends
  • × Ignoring other campaigns on same event

Coordinating with Other Campaigns

When multiple campaigns respond to the same event:

🔍 Check what others are doing

Browse other campaigns on the event page - see what areas/needs are covered

🎯 Focus on gaps

If 5 campaigns already provide food, maybe focus on shelter or medical supplies

📢 Communicate

Mention your coordination efforts in campaign updates - donors appreciate collaboration

🤝 Reference each other

It's okay to say "Organization X is handling shelter, we're focusing on food relief"

Troubleshooting

I can't find the event I'm responding to

Try these steps:

  • Search the Events page thoroughly - it might have a different name than you expect
  • Check if it's listed under the official disaster name (e.g., "Typhoon Rai (Odette)")
  • Look in the past events section - it might be archived
  • Contact Dasig support to request the event be added
Can I link my campaign to multiple events?

Currently, campaigns can only link to one event at a time. If your campaign responds to multiple disasters, choose the primary or most recent one. Mention the others in your campaign description.

Tip: If you're running separate relief operations for different disasters, create separate campaigns and link each to its respective event.

My campaign doesn't show on the event page

Check that:

  • You selected an event in your campaign form and saved it
  • Your campaign status is "Active" (not draft)
  • The event page has refreshed (try Cmd/Ctrl + R)
  • You're looking at the correct event

Wait a few minutes - updates may take time to appear.

How do I unlink my campaign from an event?

To unlink your campaign:

  1. Edit your campaign
  2. Find the Event field
  3. Select "None" or clear the field
  4. Save changes

Do this when your response to that specific disaster is complete.
